Details Revealed on Phil Collins' New Album, Going Back, and His Latest "Selection of Shows"
For several months, its been known that Phil Collins would be releasing an album of Motown and soul cover tunes from the 1960s. A few days ago, it was confirmed that the album would be released in September 2010.

Today, we know a bit more about this exciting new project. Here's what we know: The album is titled Going Back and will be released in North America on Atlantic Records (while no U.S. release date is known yet, the tentative U.K. release date is September 13, 2010).

In addition, Collins has announced four New York tour dates to promote the album from June 22-25, 2010 at the Roseland Ballroom. Collins' 18-piece band will include the Funk Brothers (who appear on the new album) along with long-time solo band members Brad Cole, Daryl Stuermer, and Chester Thompson. The pre-sale for these sure-to-sell-out concerts begins on Monday, April 19th, with general ticket sales for the public starting on April 24th. Collins is spending quite a bit of time in New York this year between his induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (as part of Genesis) in March, his acceptance of the Johnny Mercer Award at the Songwriters Hall of Fame at the Marriott Marquis Hotel on June 17th, and now four live shows at the Roseland Ballroom.

Madrid (EUROPA PRESS). - Phil Collins regresa a los escenarios con un nuevo disco con clásicos del soul, 'Going back', tras cinco años de silencio. Las canciones de este CD, que saldrá al mercado el próximo mes de septiembre, las presentará en varios conciertos en Nueva York a finales de junio.

El artista británico ha llevado a cabo este "proyecto muy personal" en el que ha versionado sus canciones favoritas. Gran parte del repertorio son joyas del soul clásico, canciones que jugaron un papel fundamental en su carrera, desde el 'Papa was a Rolling Stone', de The Temptations, a 'Uptight (Everything's Alright)' de Stevie Wonder, pasando por temas de The Four Tops, Curtis Mayfield and The Impressions, The Supremes, Smokey Robinson & The Miracles, Martha and The Vandellas y Dusty Springfield.

Phil Collins ofrecerá una serie de conciertos especiales en el Roseland Ballroom de Nueva York, en los que interpretará las canciones de 'Going back' y otros clásicos del soul. Los shows tendrán lugar entre el 22 y el 25 de junio y Collins estará acompañado de una banda de 18 músicos, que incluye a los legendarios The Funk Brothers, una sección de viento de cinco músicos y seis coristas.

bueno, bueno, bueno, esto tiene buena pinta, y eso que salto la noticia el año pasado de que dificilmente podria volver a tocar la bateria durante un buen tiempo por culpa de la operacion en las vertebras. Ya tengo ganas de escuchar este disco, se ve que este año es el año de las versiones...

Ya me estoy imaginando el papa was a rolling stone con un buen dueto de baterias... con las trompetas, trombones...

alla que voy, en breves hago mi critica jajaja

creo que tengo mejores expectativas de este disco que de Peter Gabriel, y ya es una lastima que sea asi !!! pero siempre me ha gustado la musica Soul de los años 50-60

ya me he bajado las canciones originales que va a tener el nuevo disco, y lo cierto es que son todas muy buenas, espero que haga una buena version de cada una de ellas.

escuchado.... bueno... que decir... joder que buena !! ademas, no se si es casualidad, o lo que sea, pero la voz de Phil esta como efectizada a la antigua, suena a disco viejo, me gusta, ojala que el tour pase por España, sus conciertos suelen ser muy buenos y con mucho espectaculo, ya tengo ganas de que saque que haga la presentacion en new York y verlo por el Youtube !!
